Its always something when living on board and this winter our heater has been doing crazy stuff and once again it has broken down. (In written time its working again).
Take it out, clean it, change glow plug and net and voila, Its alive again! Only a days work and a little more to get the spare parts.
So to all you Eberspracher users, they suck when they don’t work but lovely when they do.
A navigation table has the purpose of helping the sea charts lay down proper so you can read them, plotting and knowing where you are. But let us all be honest here, it might look like a navigation table, but its not. Its all the other things except the charts. VHF, AIS, Navtex, gas alarm sensor, radio, inverter and other panels as well as books and my office stuff. Why you might wonder?… And the answer is easy,
No one uses charts anymore! And if they have one they have no idea how plotting works. They might even read the chart it upside down. I had the luck to marry a man of the old school kind. He is young in his mind but he knows all these things that no one knows anymore. Like plotting its he and the fishermen out there. I never really use the charts as now days most of the boats has a electronically plotter up there. If all electronics would be wiped out you might find yourself in a dangerous or unpleasant situation when you might would had the knowledge handy of real plotting.
Most of the time this is my area where I work, blog and sometimes watch movies so its also used for puttign my drinks on as well as my bowl of popcorn 🙂
I just wanted to share with you all that I am back on track, started work for real and doing business today and it feels great! The flu is gone but my voice sounds like I have been drinking 1 liter of whiskey the last 20 years, nothing wrong though all seems good. I hang out with my tea cup spiced with lemon and ginger.
Cure for a flu from hell:
- Liters of Tea with honey, lemon and ginger
- hot showers
- small amount of food every hour
- love from husband
See ya around lovely people 🙂
Hello world. Here I am sitting with my little friend Cola and eating a kind of breakfast/lunch. Bagels and Beans must be my absolute favorite café in The Netherlands. Always fresh food and nice people working there. And the most important thing is that on all Bagels and Beans dogs are welcome. They even give the dogs their own water bowl and dog candy. That’s service and total happiness for us dog people when our four legged friends can come along and get threatened like everyone else. The rain is pouring down outside so we better stay in today sipping coffee. 🙂 Doing some work when possible as the server is totally doing its own thing today.
Cleaning the surface
When its winter we usually try and make as much work on the boat as we can. This year we decided to do some more insulation in the front of the boat and on the roof. The galley and the tool room in the front is done just as we wanted and the leftover of the Armaflex we use will probably end up in the WC /shower.
Armaflex is a closed material( Armacell) and its amazing. Just measure, peel of the sticker and attached where you want. last for years and years as its usually used around industrial piping for example cold water so its great stuff that lasts. No moisture is coming through and its gets a lot less damp in the compartments that sometimes used to collect a little water.
Our vessel has never been damp or even had any rotten or damaged wood anywhere and we have noticed that through the years as she always seems to have been dry with very little condensation.
A good toolbox (or many) is a must and ours is prepped with all goodies you need. Without it we would be lost. Tomorrow its cleaning out day and I hope I can throw out a lot and maybe even sell of some clothes, shoes and handbags to add for our savings.
