Wellness

Wellness is not how thin you are or how many hours you spent on the gym or how many carrots you ate for lunch last week. wellness is feeling good inside yourself and knowing who you are. If you don’t know who you are you will only be a lost soul at sea. If your soul is shining so are you on the outside and this is notice by many people around you and this is like rings on the water without you even knowing it. By our mind and consciousness we effect others around us by having a soul filled with wellness. And with wellness comes happiness. You catch my drift here? 🙂

I notice myself being grumpy sometimes for no reason at all, like the atmosphere we live in effect us most negatively once in a while. This effects of course my surrounding and all of a sudden the moment that just been so good for all just died. Most unnecessary and this is why I write this post, To make you remember who you are and how you feel and how that effects everything you do and and around you. To reach a goal it is important to not loose the ground on reality as the world we live in today is rough and not at all what you think it is. Open your eyes and hearts and you notice that the world will opens up to you.

Lots of love to you all.

Lovely May

May is here and that should mean spring and it has turned that way, we had a week with weird weather but now all seem to be gone and the sun is here. We are out sailing still and we have about 3 more weeks to sail before I need to start a new job in Amsterdam. That is going to be pretty exiting. today was one of those days with hardly no wind, sun high up and felt warm in the face, finally May is here. 🙂

Mystic morning

Going through the canals a early morning is mystic and lovely. Here on our way seeing the most Dutch you can, a windmill, with what I think is a goshawk sitting on top looking for food. Please correct me if I am wrong here, birds are not my thing really. But this picture was cool.

Canal ways

There are canal ways like no other where in the world in The Netherlands. We are discovering new ways every time. We are going to explore Friesland for a while now. Friesland is a province in the  north of the Netherlands with Leeuwarden as capital. It wa s a lovely summer day today and so warm and nice, the very first real summer day of the year. Jackets are off! 🙂

Dogs onboard

My crew has grown and I am so happy to have these two guys on board. 🙂

New design

Found a new Nautical design in one of my favorite stores here in Holland. Lovely nautical cushions for our sofa in the boat. Small things can make you very happy sometimes. 🙂

Gaudi of Urk

It was a different morning walk with Melvin this morning. Going through the alleys of Urk we met Geert Weerstand a local artist, a real Urker that has a gallery and a workshop in Urk where he makes art of glass on nature stone. It was beautiful and what a lovely man, he invited us with all his heart and gave us a exclusive tour of the workshop and the gallery. Geert mentioned that he was a bog fan of van Gogh and showed us  a gallery dedicated to va Gogh. Very beautiful and nothing I ever seen before. Geert is called locally ” Gaudi van Urk” Gaudi of Urk. If you ever come here make sure you take a look at the gallery, its truly an inspiration and so is Geert. Thank you Geert for your wonderful hospitality. We be back soon again. See an interview with Gaudi of Urk HERE. Its unfortunately only in Dutch and no subtitles but in the video you get to see his artwork and the beautiful Urk.

Easter sailing and a force 8

We decided to go sailing for some days when the weather allowed on Saturday. The sun was up, wind from the back and the current with us, we did 9 knots and it was great. We decided to go to Urk, a old island in the lake of Ijsselmeer and we are still here in writing moment due to a force 8. It came in yesterday and it has not stopped since, it picked up today and the boat was rocking in the marina. Everyone was up checking fenders and the ropes. We lay great as always when the husband always ties for storm. Urk is a lovely fishing village that use to be a island back in the days, now its connected o the mainland but you can feel its been a island really. The view out on Ijsselmeer is breathtaking sometimes. Its a very christian and during Easter they dress up nice and go to church, some even up to 4 times a day! So many churches around here. You still see some in traditional Urker clothing. The season has not started yet but some boats are out but Urk is dead quiet, in the summer its blooming with pubs, restaurants and ice cream stores that are open.

Chocolate cravings

I had the cravings from hell today and all I want to eat is just chocolate and more chocolate, I have barely eaten any real food yesterday and today. So I dug into the galley and made some awesome sticky chocolate cupcakes with coffee frosting and coconut and these peanut butter stacks. They are all gone now and tomorrow I try and make some more because these badges just got to good.

Food onboard

I love my galley in the boat and it is great to make food in. My husband asked me when he rebuilt the galley what my request were and I made a list hoping I would get half of the stuff on it. He managed all on the list and a little extra as well. Great stove with a great oven, carbon fiber surface, spice locker, new faucet, automatic light in all lockers when opened as well as led light strip with dimmer and last but not least red lights for the night sailing. When you have a good galley its fun to cook and I always say that no matter if you are tied up to the quay or out sailing you should always allow yourself to eat good food.

Baking is one of my passions and today I made some nice lemon cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and some small breakfast bread with poppy seeds .Pasta is a favorite on board as well as mini pizzas which is great to make and throw in the oven while sailing.

We make all our food our self and avoid half fabricate which mostly just contains Hugh amounts sugar and other bad stuff. So all the below pictures you see is food and baking we do either out sailing or tied  up in port.
