Wellness

Wellness is not how thin you are or how many hours you spent on the gym or how many carrots you ate for lunch last week. wellness is feeling good inside yourself and knowing who you are. If you don’t know who you are you will only be a lost soul at sea. If your soul is shining so are you on the outside and this is notice by many people around you and this is like rings on the water without you even knowing it. By our mind and consciousness we effect others around us by having a soul filled with wellness. And with wellness comes happiness. You catch my drift here? 🙂

I notice myself being grumpy sometimes for no reason at all, like the atmosphere we live in effect us most negatively once in a while. This effects of course my surrounding and all of a sudden the moment that just been so good for all just died. Most unnecessary and this is why I write this post, To make you remember who you are and how you feel and how that effects everything you do and and around you. To reach a goal it is important to not loose the ground on reality as the world we live in today is rough and not at all what you think it is. Open your eyes and hearts and you notice that the world will opens up to you.

Lots of love to you all.

New design

Found a new Nautical design in one of my favorite stores here in Holland. Lovely nautical cushions for our sofa in the boat. Small things can make you very happy sometimes. 🙂

A look back

When looking back on 2015 I must say it was a interesting year. One thing that happened was that SAIL Amsterdam occurred, it does that every 5th years so its a little special, and not so little, thousands of boats in the canals of Amsterdam from small dingys to square riggers trying to make way through the water. It was truly madness but indeed fantastic.

From all over the world the big ships came in through the locks of Ijmuiden and sailed into Amsterdam in a convoy. For one time in my life I got the feeling that this is exactly how they used to do back in the days, trading ships from all over the world entered Amsterdam by ship and tied up to the high quays… Two Swedish ships, one of them from Stockholm stoled my heart extra as The National anthem came on and the flag rise. It was indeed beautiful and with our boat on the summer spot in Sixhaven we had front row all week.

Champagne, oysters , BBQ, friends and laughter filled that week in August with something truly unforgettable. I wanted to share some pics from SAIL Amsterdam as I get a bit powered up here this last night in Kampen as we set off for Amsterdam tomorrow. The season is about to start! It was really about time as I felt like I started to grow into the pontoon. Just called the bridges to get them opened for tomorrow as you have to order them 12 hours before this time a year. Its gonna feel good to get out there again.

Foggy Friday

Looked out the porthole this morning but could see nothing… Land is gone!! Pontoon is gone!! There is no stern on the boat!! NO wait a minute… So freakin foggy there was nothing in sight… When the fog cleared up later I managed to get some nice pics of the boat in the very lonely winterharbour. I also managed to squeeze in a quick stop at Bagel and Beans in Zwolle. In a week we are planning to set of towards Amsterdam and after that nobody really knows. We would like to go south in the end of the year if we have all the things we want and need on our list….. And as you boat people know that list never seems to end even though you might cross something off once in a while…. I guess thats the charm ♥♥♥

The list:

  • Water maker ( Portable like Berkey filter is also awsome)
  • Steering pedistal
  • Generator
  • Water heater ( ours is a hole in right now)
  • Spinnaker ( not the most important but would be great so hoping for a sponsorship)
  • Repair kit to our Perkins 4.108
  • New sailing gear
  • Sunglasses ( sponsor anyone?) 🙂
  • Bigger anchor ( we discussed his and it might be a good idea)
  • Inflatable SUP ( these are awesome when on anchor to get to shore)

Little peace and quiet

I do miss Amsterdam a bit right now, we went up north for the winter to get some peace and quiet and now its been quiet enough. But its very nice and lovely up in Over Ijssel and I recommend any sailors to visit it when around. A bit more to do in the summer though… The best Harbormaster in Netherlands is located in Buitenhaven , Kampen, and that’s not a lie, he got an award a few years ago and he deserves it big time, his second assistant harbormaster is also the most humble man you can imagine. I think its his time to get the award next time.

We are planning our trip down south towards Amsterdam but we cannot make up our minds when to go. The winter came again with ice and minus degrees and that’s not what I had planned. So standing outside steering right now is not really one of my favorites options, but its the most cozy to be out as it is no one else out and the lakes are for ourselves. Buckle up with loads off clothes, warm tea, coffee and the heater on full speed and we should be alright.

When is your best time to sail?

A mans best friend. Or womans :)

Let me introduce to you all: My family onboard.

We have Melvin to the left, my beautiful rotteweiler. And to the right we have Cola, a schipperke that I babysit for 3 months while its owners is in Thailand.

To have a dog in my life has become important and I cannot see myself without one. The days that you are sad they always cheers you up and when the rain is pouring down outside and you dont wanna go out, those eyes looks at you and on and in a matter of time you have grabbed your wellies :). Melvin is my best friend and always by my side. Cola is probably one of the coolest dogs I ever babysat and I have taken care of many. Cola feels human in a way and when looking into his eyes it always tells you a secret story.♥

For you who are not dogowners, afraid of dogs or just does not like them, ;et me tell you: all dogs are sweet if you just raise them right.
