Its Thursday again and one of my favorites days as I get to participate in Norms Thursday door challange and this week I have a blend of old doors for you from the East Indian trading company located in Hoorn, Netherlands. This is history when it is the best.Enjoy.
These are their warehouses locate din town. 1606 is the year on these buildings.
The buildings here below are the east Indian company warehouses down in the inner harbor. So many small icons, decorations and signs on the house. Notice how many small doors all over the fasade. One is from 1606 and one house from 1618.
I am following a blog Georgimoon and I really like the post there and we share an interest as we are both live aboard. One of the returning posts is The Thursday doors post and I always find the extra fun to see whats this weeks door. I decided to join in and try and give you some Dutch doors so here my first one.
picture is taken in Urk, Flevoland. Its a typical Dutch doors used traditionally as barn for animals, this has the traditionally colors these Dutch doors have, but they come in many different.
I hardly never get sick but since almost 2 weeks back now I been knocked out in the flu from hell. Not been able to eat, move or drink this has been a test to the teeth as our heater broke down in the same time as I got sick. D has been great giving me food, fixing the boat and Melvin while I have been trying to survive this evil virus. I was on my way to the doc but changed my mind and thought i go for another cure called natural cure. Thai liniment, ginger, tea and lemon together with sleep and some minor paracetamol I might be back on track again.. Well I am writing this post am I not? 🙂 Lets hope that D does not get this evil virus now as he is sick as it is with his evil C thing.
We are back in Amsterdam after a winter in the North and this weekend we were planning go sailing again, all depending on how the viruses has moved around the boat.
The heater is fixed and by the time that was fixed our water heater exchanger started to leak so we really need to get another one now, we cannot close our eyes for this anymore…
every winter there is a test.. And they makes us stronger that’s for sure.
The funny houses is in Zandaam a short bit outside Amsterdam where we fixed the heater. Melvin supervises the work of course.
The sailing season 2016 has officially started today. Cold fresh air, lovely sun and hardly no wind made the first day out for the year extremely nice. We went from Kampen and ended up in Enkhuizen, a old fishing village that we usually spend our last summer in.
There were not a single other boat out today except the working boats. To bad they not knowing what they miss as it was so nice. Now we just finished dinner and a stroll in town with the dogs and I am finished. Now a big bowl of popcorn and a blanket then slowly grow into the sofa. That’s a great way to spend the evening onboard. Tomorrow we go further to Amsterdam and hopefully we end up in a marina we have not been before…. Just have to convince my husband as our thought splits there. 🙂
I find myself at peace on the water, more relaxed than I can ever be, people that knows me know that I have to much energy and hardly never sit down. On the boat out there I do….
